Bess has been teaching theater classes and workshops for adults and kids for over 20 years. Her major areas of focus are Voice for the Stage/Public Speaking, Performing Shakespeare, and Solo Performance Development. She is also the creator and facilitator of the Your Inner Critic as Character Workshop, the Big Mouth Collective Residency, and the Activist Storytelling Workshop. Currently she teaches in Colby College’s Theater & Dance Department, is a Teaching Artist in Portland Stage Company’s Theater for Kids program, and on the Masterclass faculty of Acorn Productions. Over the last few years, Bess has directed several productions with young actors. She also offers private voice coaching for anyone who wants to connect confidently and authentically with an audience of any kind.
